Empower Your Future

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy differs from other forms of talking therapy, because we won’t focus on the past, or delve into traumatic issues or situations to a great extent.

That’s not to say upsetting or traumatic things haven’t happened to us, but our brain has its own way of processing trauma and past events during REM sleep, and at our own pace, without the need to continually revisit the situation during sessions.  This can put us in a fearful “fight or flight mode”, where we are unable to have a positive outlook and make well thought out decisions.

My aim during sessions is to empower you to recognise the skills and resources you already have within you and help you to discover the small steps you can take to help you move forward.

Sessions are made up of two parts. During the first part of the session, we’ll use a positive and empowering form of talking therapy to support you to move forward, and not to be held back by the past. This also gets us thinking more in a different part of our brain, where we can think more positively about ourselves and life in general, and be happier and more motivated.

The second part of the session will be a deeply relaxing hypnosis. This is where your mind focuses to consolidate all the positive reinforcement you placed in it during the talking therapy, whilst you are in a relaxed state and not focused on any problems. You’ll be completely in control during the hypnosis part of the session and it will be similar to a deep meditation.

This special focusing of your subconscious mind will enable you to consolidate what we discussed during the session, and to find solutions to your problems and take on board positive reinforcement more easily.

We can relax and know that our mind will know what to do, to help us to:

1) Move forward

2) Process upsetting events without creating further trauma

3) Create new neural pathways and ways of thinking and feeling about ourselves

This Solution Focused approach is based on modern clinically proven neuroscience-based techniques. It is intended to be a brief form of therapy, with 6-8 sessions usually required, but sometimes more.

So, change can happen relatively quickly by helping you create new neural connections that changes the way you feel about yourself and situations.
